Over the last two decades, the Department of Physics, has scaled new heights in setting standards of education by promoting scientific temperament and generating curiosity in Physics among students. We have tried to provide our students operational knowledge in the principal areas of Physics, to develop skills to effectively communicate their scientific knowledge and lead them in their career paths. The classroom teaching is made interactive by using various methods of teaching and learning which includes presentations, peer tutoring and by rigorous practical training. The department has also been actively organizing lectures by eminent personalities in different fields, national/regional workshops, refresher courses, seminars, exhibitions, quiz programmes, industrial visits etc. to provide overall development of students.
Courses Offered
BSc Physics with Chemistry and Mathematics– 39 SEATS
Undergraduate course in Physics under the University of Calicut is designed to provide the students a better knowledge of the subject and to foster scientific curiosity. We have Chemistry and Mathematics as the subsidiary subjects offered for first and second year. We have papers like Electronics, Quantum Mechanics, Optics, Computational Physics, Relativity and Astrophysics, Thermodynamics, Nuclear and particle Physics, Solid state and Spectroscopy. Our department also offers open course on Amateur Astronomy and Astro Physics for non- Physics students. Also, we offer Nano science and technology as the elective subject for sixth semester Physics students.
