 REPORT OF ACTIVITIES 2022-23

Environment day observation

The activities of NSS for the academic year 2022-23 began with the Environment day observation. As part of environment day, the final years NSS Volunteers had visited Kakkadampoyil, an environment friendly tourist village in Calicut and spend the whole day with the nature. 

Appointment of new Programme Officer

Ms. Anju Suresh, Faculty of the Department of History was appointed as the new Programme Officer of the NSS Unit of Dayapuram Arts & Science College for Women on 9th June 2022.With the advice of Principal & Management the former Programme Officer Mr.Rajesh .A.P, Faculty of Malayalam continue to guide the NSS as a mentor.

Mavinchuvadushucheekaranam

A Cleaning programme ‘‘Mavinchuvadushucheekaranam’’ was conducted by the NSS Unit & Infrastructure Committee of the College at ‘‘Mavinchuvadu’’ on 13/7/23 & 21/7/23. All students & teachers actively participated in the programme & NSS volunteers prepared food for the students & teachers.

Independence Day Celebration 

As part of Independence day Volunteers visited Ambedkar Colony, the adopted village under the NSS Unit & neighboring Anganvadi. Volunteers divided into different groups and communicated with the natives.

Orientation Class

NSS Unit organized an Orientation Class for 2nd year NSS Volunteers for the academic year 2022-23 on 20/8/23 at Marakkar Hall .Dr. Julie.E & Dr. Sini .R, Assistant Professors and Programme Officers of Providence Women’s College were the resource persons.


Orientation Course for Programme Officers 

The new Programme Officer Ms.Anju Suresh.M, faculty of History Department had attended the Seven Day Orientation Course for the Programme Officers held at Calicut University Campus organized by the Empanelled Training Institute from 19th to 25th August 2022.

Orientation Programme

An Orientation class was organized by 2nd year NSS Volunteers for the first year students on 22/09/2022.The Session was handled by Second Year NSS Volunteers Fathima Faumin & Fathima Rana.O.P of B.A.Functional English.

Two Day Residential Camp

NSS Volunteers actively volunteered the Two Day Residential Camp organized for First year students of our College on 23rd -24th September 2022. As Volunteered they stayed in the campus and helped teachers and students in Registration, Cooking, Cleaning & Maintaining discipline etc.

NSS DAY

NSS Day was observed with NSS Song & Pledge on 24th September 2022 at Mavinchuvadu.NSS Programme Officer Anju Suresh .M delivered NSS message to Volunteers.

Gandhi Jayanthi

Gandhi Jayanthi was observed with a Cleaning Programme at College premises on 01-10-2022 at 9.30 am. Five groups were formed and cleaned the premises of the Campus .The work was completed by 12.30 pm.

Snehapothi 

As part of ‘‘Snehapothi Project’’, NSS Volunteers of our College had distributed 31 Pothichoru (lunch packs) to homeless people near Calicut Beach & Railway Station on 21 October 2022.

Say No to Drugs

As Part of Anti Drug Awareness Campaign , an awareness class ‘‘Say No to Drugs’’ was conducted on 22nd October 2022. The session was handled by Mr. Santosh Cheruvot, Preventive Officer, Narcotics Special Squad.

Lahari Virudha Changala 

NSS Volunteers formed a ‘‘Lahari Virudha Changala’’, A chain against Drug on 1st November 2022. College Principal Dr.Nimmy John inaugurated the event by giving her hand impression against Drug. All teachers, non teaching staff & students joined with volunteers in the Lahari Virudha Changala by folding their hands and making a chain against Drug. It was followed by a Pledge against Drug & a poster presentation by NSS Volunteers.

 District level Quiz Competition

NSS Volunteers Hridya .B (2nd BA History) & Fathima Rana.O.P (2nd BAFE) participated District level quiz competition organized by District Medical Office & District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit “Answer 3.0” at District TB Centre at 22/10/2022.

Bodhyam 2022

With the guidance of the University of Calicut, a quiz Competition named Bodhyam 2022 was conducted in connection with Anti Drug awareness Campaign on 12th October 2022. The winner of the competition Nooriya (2nd BAFE) had participated district level quiz competition jointly organized by NSS State cell & Kerala Excise department held at College of Applied Science ,Kozhikode.

Fund Collection for We Care 

NSS Volunteers Collected and transferred an amount from students & teachers to “We Care Donation” scheme under the Government of Kerala.

Leadership Camp

NSS Volunteers of our College Aneesa (2nd B.Com) & Abitha (2nd BBA) attended three days Leadership Camp at MES Ponnani College organized by the University of Calicut from 9th December 2022to 11th December 2022 .

Blood Donation Drive

The Pain & Palliative Club & the NSS Unit jointly organized blood donation drive on 20/12/23 at MVR Cancer Center. Students & teachers donated their blood to blood bank. Kesiya Issac, Faculty in Charge of Pain & Palliative coordinated the whole programme.

National Seminar

NSSS Volunteers Fathima Rana.O.P, Greeshma.K.R of 2nd BA Functional English had participated University level National Seminar on Constitutional Monarchy at Govt Law College, Kozhikode organized jointly by the Institute of Parliamentary affairs, Thiruvananthapuram and Govt Law College on 17th & 18th December 2022.

La Espina (Seven Days Camp)

La Espina, the Seven days Camp of NSS Volunteers of 2021-23 was conducted from 23rd to 29th December at G.L.P.S .Poolakkode.College Principal Dr.Nimmy John hoisted the Camp flag & Panchayath President Mr. Abdul Gafoor inaugurated the Camp. Volunteers painted the school wall with colourfull pictures and letters for Primary School Students.Hardwork of Volunteers made the Camp a memorable one . Volunteers celebrated their Christmas with the inmates of Athani , an Old age home in Narikkuni with Songs and sweets.Awareness Classes by Excise Department, Fair Force Department & Election Commission were  also included in camp sessions.

 Enrollment of First Years

56 Students were enrolled as NSS Volunteers for the academic year 2022 _24.Devika.P of First year BA English Literature & Fidha Febin .A C of 1st B.Com were selected as Volunteers secretaries.First year Volunteers were actively Volunteered College programmes like,Arts Day, Sports Day& Educational Conclave etc.
